Subject: Insomnia — Anyone Else??
Another sleepless night. Going on three weeks now. Went to Dr. Litchfield but nothing helps.
The strangest thing — I keep seeing colors around people. Like auras. Bright ones
and dim ones. My neighbor Lois says she sees them too. Are we going crazy? Has anyone
else had this happen? I'm 70 years old. I never had trouble sleeping before my wife passed.

Subject: Has this happened to anyone else?
I keep finding paper boats in my yard. Small ones, made from folded newspaper. There is
no child on my street. This is the third week. I've checked with my neighbors. Nobody is
making them. They show up in the morning, sitting in puddles, like someone sailed them
down the gutter and they got stuck. The newspaper is always old. One was from 1957.
Please, if you know who's doing this, ask them to stop. It scares my dog.

Subject: Smells from the drains??
Anyone else notice the smell coming from the drains on Canal Street? Smells like the circus.
Cotton candy or popcorn or something sweet. My wife says she can't smell anything. I asked
the kid at the bus stop and he said it smelled like "his grandma's cookies." How can one
smell be three different things?
It's stronger at night.

Subject: Plumber Recommendation Needed
Does anyone know a good plumber? My basement drain keeps backing up with dark water.
Found a child's shoe in the drain pipe last week. We don't have children. Now this morning
there's a paper boat caught in the grate, soaked through. I called the DPW and they said
they'd "look into it" but that was four days ago. The water smells wrong. Please help.

Subject: Clown Near the Canal — My Son
My son says a clown offered him a balloon near the canal. He ran home. Police said
they'd "look into it." That was two weeks ago. Has anyone else's child reported this?
My son is 8 years old. He won't sleep with the lights off. He drew a picture of the clown.
I don't want to describe what he drew. Please — if your child has seen this person,
contact the police immediately.

Subject: The singing in the drains
The singing from the drains is getting louder. Now I can make out words. It sounds like a
nursery rhyme — one I don't recognize. Something about a frog at the bottom of the sea.
It's a child singing. Sometimes two children. They take turns. My wife still says she can't
hear it. I haven't slept properly in a month. Please, if anyone else hears this, write to me.
I need to know I'm not losing my mind.

I'm 78 years old. I remember 1957. I remember 1930. This is happening again and nobody
will listen. I tried to tell Chief Rademacher. He told me to enjoy my retirement. My sister's
boy was taken in '57. They found pieces of him in the Kenduskeag. The same thing is
starting. The signs are the same. God help our children.
